And we’re the family behind Salt+Light: Matt, Brittany (that’s me!), and our two little girls.
Matt and I grew up here in Sayre, PA (though we didn’t know each other back then!) and when we got the chance to open a business here we were thrilled. We love our community so deeply and are so excited to be a part of it in this new way.
When I first walked through this big beautiful home in 2018, I knew it was something special. This mansion in the middle of town had been flooded and left to rot — but I could see the beauty waiting to come out again. The second I walked through the door, I knew I had to be a part of this story. Until that moment, I didn’t even realize this was a dream I was holding. But there’s something about this place.
That weekend, I brought my husband here and showed him my vision. I don’t think he quite got it, but he trusted me and jumped on board. He’s quite used to my big ideas by now. After all, he and I met after I returned to Sayre after years away, and less than 6 months later, we were married!
I am someone who follows my instincts, and they have not steered me wrong yet.
Matt and I signed the lease to this beautiful mess, and after lots of love and hard work, here we are. Salt+Light turned out more perfect than we ever could have imagined, and owning my own business is exactly what my ADD soul needed.
While Salt+Light’s home is complete, our own home out on the 150 acres we own is still a work in progress. We’re renovating an old hunting cabin and turning it into a real home. That’s why we chose to specialize in home & lifestyle pieces that give your home and family exactly what it needs! But we also know that some people still struggle to find that perfect piece for their home — or with where to put it. That’s why we offer workshops on interior design, as well as others like sign making, cookie decorating, or anything that helps your home feel homier.
We appreciate you visiting Salt+Light, and we do hope you come out to Sayre to see this place for yourself. There’s nothing like the feeling of being an old home that’s been given new life. It might even inspire you! And if you have any questions, email us and we’d be happy to help.
and so together they built a life they loved.
